Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck usually goes by other names like: Walkie-Rider, Rider or Walkie. These pieces of machinery are essentially a motorized type of a pallet jack. They come in both "Walkie" models as well as "Rider" versions.
Just as the name implies, the walkie type is designed for the operator to walk along with the unit as they move cargo. The Rider model on the other hand, utilizes a small platform for which the operator stands on. The rider models are great for frequent moving of loads over extended distances within warehouses and manufacturing operations. They are highly maneuverable and fast.
It is important to remember that there is no safety cage on this model and therefore, it is not recommended to transport unstable or tall loads with these equipment. A rider can be the perfect answer if you are searching for an inexpensive way of transporting loads from point A to point B. If though, you must transport heavy loads short distances, and prefer to use a more employee-friendly unit instead of a pallet jack, the walkie model could be the right choice.
Order Selector
An Order Selector also goes by the name of Order picker. This machine is specifically designed for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks connected to a platform in the Man-up design. This platform elevates both the operator and the load in an effort to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Usually, the order selector is a very narrow aisle vehicle that can function in smaller aisles. They are really handy pieces of equipment during physical inventories as well as in cycle counting situations. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models which range in the 20 to 30 foot range are a lot more common.
