Dangers of Type-G lift trucks
The lift truck is essential for completing warehouse tasks. These extremely capable machinery lift and transport loads of immense size from one location to another. Lift trucks have a lot of variations. The main variation is the way in which various units are fueled. "LP" forklifts are the kind that is most common. They run on liquid propane. Type "E" forklifts have big rechargeable batteries and operate on electricity. Type "D" lift trucks are powered by diesel and type "G" operate on gasoline. Though all forklifts, similar to any piece of heavy machinery, can pose a hazard, the kind of lift trucks which are powered by gasoline carry the most risks.
Fire
Forklifts labelled type G can present a fire hazard. Gas forklifts are not made with the same rigorous standards. Gas leaks are the biggest cause of fire due mainly to gas leaks and also escaped gas fumes. This could result from normal wear and from accidents or driving on really rough terrain. These circumstances pose a danger and could lead to fire. Thus, a typical Type G forklift must never be used in conditions where elevated fire risk is deemed unacceptable. Like for instance, these units should not be used around dangerous or explosive chemicals.
Explosion
Type G forklifts also pose a risk of explosion, as do those that operate on diesel and liquid propane. A type of forklift that run on gasoline can explode as a result of a serious mishap in circumstances where a gasoline leak and an ignition source are both present. An explosion could occur when sparks are created in the collision and the sparks ignite the gasoline.
Fumes and Exhaust
Type G lift trucks pose a serious inhalation hazard because of poisonous fumes. Gasoline fumes could be deadly in high concentrations. Fumes could result from gasoline leaks or from the exhaust itself. Thus, a Type G lift truck is really not suggested for any setting which is poorly ventilated. The exhaust would present a serious hazard in enclosed places. This particular kind of forklift must be utilized carefully when operated near individuals.
