How to Charge a Scissor Lift
Lots of individuals appreciate the ease of using a scissor lift. The ease of working and the safety offered from the lift's basket provide a lot more piece of mind than attempting to perform a similar task working off the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this equipment make it the right choice for completing tasks from heights.
Most scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted in the lift's base. These batteries have to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This could be carried out without any particular equipment or tools and needs no heavy labor.
So as to prepare the scissor lift for charging, position the machine near an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated area. Then, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button located inside the basket of the lift, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Normally, models which are older will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
After that, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in a place which is well ventilated and then plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger can likely take place.
